S. Martin Friedman has been a photographer and printmaker for more than 45 years. During that time he has earned three degrees in art, including a Master's Degree in Photography and a Post Graduate Degree in Graphics. He has also taught art on the secondary and college levels, and ran a successful Gallery and Framing operation in Westchester County, New York.
His artwork has sold in Galleries throughout the country and has been exhibited in numerous shows and museums and is included in many private collections the world over. When in the 70's he operated his own Atelier he did master printmaking for artists such as LeRoy Neiman and Salvador Dali.
With a strong background in classical design and an innovative spirit he has been able to incorporate the most recent technology into his work. Most images are created in the traditional photrographic medium, but then he uses digital technology to refine the work for publication. All images are then printed on a large format printer using only archival inks and 100% rag papers to ensure the longevity of his prints.
"First I was a photographer. That was always my first love. Then I was a printmaker, but incorporated photographs into my work to create photo-etchings. Now, I'm a photographer again, this time using the latest digital innovations to create even more astonishing images than before. The creative control one has over the medium, using these new techniques, gives me unprecedented possibilities. After spending so many years in the darkroom, I'm amazed at how much more I can do at a monitor."
